Curtain Light Calculator

How many ports and watts does a curtain need?

Enter the curtain size, drop and bead spacing, linked curtains and controller ports to get total LEDs, refresh rate per port and power-supply rating — plus the best series/parallel layout. Fully parallel is preferred for curtains.

Wire: top main line + hanging drops

CTRL A Top main line (carries all current) B Drops (thinner wire) Fully parallel: every drop connects straight to the main line
A
Top main line includes the controller lead and link cables; carries the whole port current — use thicker wire

B
Hanging drop wire each drop carries only its own beads’ current — thinner wire or PVC flat wire is fine

Engineering estimate: the curtain is modelled as a top main line with evenly spaced drops; copper at 20 °C, constant-current beads, each drop fed from the main line at one end; in series-parallel each group is a whole number of drops with diagonal feed. Controller ports are independent circuits that refresh simultaneously; refresh rate comes from each model’s data rate. Wi-Fi only carries commands and patterns from the phone app — per-bead effects are rendered locally by the controller and sent over the two-wire carrier, so refresh rate depends on LEDs per port, not Wi-Fi bandwidth. PSU recommendations keep full-white load ≤ 80%. Use the official datasheet and measurements for production designs.
